1. Labor export
The first way that we mentioned is also the way most workers choose among the 4 ways to work abroad. Working abroad under the labor export category accounts for over 90% of Vietnamese workers. The industries for labor export range from agriculture, fisheries, fishing vessels, construction to heavy industry industries such as iron casting, mechanical processing, and electrical component assembly, and also service-related industries such as restaurants, cafes, etc.
The process to go abroad for labor export is very specific and clear by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs. Accordingly, the workers must go through a broker in Vietnam called the dispatching unit, which will contact the foreign partner to select and carry out procedures of visa and work permit for Vietnamese workers. During the period of working abroad, the employee will be under the control of the dispatching unit that sent the employee to work.
2. Work on projects:
In Vietnam, there are a number of units bidding for projects abroad. If successful, these units will send people to that country to implement the project. At that time, those who went to do projects abroad were also subject to work abroad but not labor export, but according to the project. The construction contractors will bring a number of Vietnamese laborers abroad to carry out the project. However, according to each country's regulations, the number of foreign workers participating in a project is limited to a certain extent.
3. Take the individual labor contract
This is an easy way for Vietnamese workers to work abroad. We only need to sign a labor contract with a foreign company to be able to carry out procedures to go abroad and work under that contract. During the work, you can move to another company and then extend the working time.
The third way is typically going to work as an engineer or a technician. Currently, the number of engineers and technicians working abroad is quite large especially in the Japanese market. However, going to work under an individual labor contract also carries a lot of risks if a dispute occurs abroad.
4. Follow the practice of improving skills
Taking the form of internships to improve skills means that skilled workers who are working in Vietnam are sent abroad to practice for a while. After the internship, learning workers who acquire new techniques will return to Vietnam to continue working.
Labor in the form of internships to improve skills is most often found in joint-stock enterprises with foreign capital or enterprises with 100% foreign capital. These units will in some cases send employees of the company to foreign countries to practice their skills and then return home to take on more suitable jobs.
